About 100 residents of Kwa Gutu area in Embu are at a risk of contracting fatal diseases as their water is reported to have been contaminated with sewage.
Residents complained of their taps running with smelly and grey-coloured water.
Rose Njoki, a resident, said the problem started three weeks ago after water pipes passing through a road under construction were damaged.

The residents have now urged the county government to intervene as they have been forced to use water from neighbouring areas.
On their part, Embu Water and Sanitation Company (Ewasco) head of technical services Felix Gitonga said the firm was doing its best to ensure the problem was contained. He said they took water samples for lab analysis.
