A group of creative youth from Nairobi’s Eastlands area is transforming the appearance of their neighbourhood and other public places with their artistic talent.
Bling City Youth Group, which is based in Maringo estate, has taken graffiti painting to a whole new level as a way of expressing their creative ideas.

“We engage in various activities like car wash, garbage collection, street art and other stuff to keep our youths from this hood off the streets and into better lives” says Vannoh Ogola, one of the group members.
Other places where you can find graffiti with the CBD include along Haile Selassie Avenue towards Muthurwa, parts of Ngong Road and the Godown Arts Center, among others.

With the recent demise of popular artiste Nipsey Hussle, one unknown artist has made some graffiti in his commemoration on Muthurwa and has grabbed the world’s attention.

They do the graffiti as a way of showcasing their talents and self-expression for positive change. The youth also use the wall murals as way of passing messages about their estate which has a very rich history.
