The debate surrounding the just concluded Parliamentary by-elections continue to find it’s way in the political corridors with the latest to speak on the same being former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Kalonzo has taken on Deputy President William Ruto head on after the latter bragged of how he influenced the re-election of Julius Mawathe in the just-concluded Embakasi South by-election.
According to Kalonzo, it was Wiper’s elaborate campaign machinery that propelled Mawathe to victory.
This comes days after William Ruto congratulated Mawathe and his Ugenya counterpart David Ochieng following their respective wins in the just concluded by-elections.
“CONGRATULATIONS Ochieng (Ugenya) & Mawathe (Embakasi) for your God given victory. Jameni wacheni MUNGU aitwe MUNGU. The hustler nation has spoken, the people have decided. GLORY TO THE ALMIGHTY GOD,” Dr. Ruto said on Twitter.
Ruto’s tweet elicited many reactions with his supporters thanking him for preventing ODM from getting a much needed win in Embakai South and Ugenya constituencies.
It so looked like Ruto was the one calling the shots and that it was due to his efforts that Mawathe got a win.
Kalonzo has disputed this fact and has instead given all the honours to his Party’s hard work.
Kalonzo led-Wiper Party defied pleas from ODM to support Sumra in line with their National Super Alliance (NASA) partnership. They even handed Mawathe a direct nomination.
Mawathe retained his seat after garnering 21,600 votes against Irshard Sumra of ODM who managed 7,900 votes.
