AFC Leopards defender Joshua Mawira has left the club for a three-month scholarship in Sweden the club has confirmed.

In Sweden, the player is expected to be in the books of Sweden Division Two side Gottne IF on a football scholarship.

In a statement on their official social media feeds, AFC Leopards noted: “Our defender Joshua Mawira has shortly left the club for a 3 months scholarship in Sweden.

“Mawira has joined Swedish division two club, Gottne IF on a football and academic scholarship.

“ALL THE BEST MAWIRA.”

This will be the second time the player will be moving to Sweden on the same scholarship missing after landing one in 2017 only to return last year.

He leaves at a time when the club has roped in a total of seven players ahead of the second half of the 2018/19 season.

Gottne IF was founded on 24 July 1924 and has participated mainly in the lower divisions of the Swedish football league system. Following two successive promotions in 2008 and 2009, the club played four seasons in Division 2 which is the fourth tier of Swedish football and has been in the Division Three since 2014.
