With his motive yet to be established, Sergeant Gabriel Echwa Ewalan, a relative of Rtd major Daniel Ing’olan was on Wednesday arrested for murder.
The sergeant is reported by police to have managed to snatch a pistol from and shot the retired soldier.
“Ewalan was in charge of the armory and had gone to the homestead of Daniel Ing’olan as a guest, upon arrival, the sergeant opened fire on the 51-year-old retired major and shot him in the right hand and left leg,” said Turkana central OCPD David Mborokwa.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Lodwar county and referral hospital mortuary.
The motive of the shooting has not yet been established and investigations are ongoing.
