Mike Sonko comes to the rescue of detained Patient at Mama Lucy Hospital

Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital has released 8 patients who were detained at the facility over unpaid medical bills.

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko ordered immediate and unconditional release of all patients who have been detained at County hospitals in Nairobi over unpaid bills.

Mama Lucy Hospital Superintendent Musa Mohamed, confirmed that the hospital indeed released the patients following the governor’s order.

“I received the order immediately after it was released and we followed through, and I know that Mbagathi hospital will also be releasing patients later. It was a good executive order and we obeyed it.” He said

Mohamed also revealed that the police will help patients who are to be released but are yet to locate their family members.

“Some cases are a bit complex because we are set to release them but they don’t know where their families are and some of them have had their fingerprints taken so that the police can help trace their families.’

“Such cases are also very common for bodies because some patients are brought by good Samaritans and they later pass on so it is impossible to identify where they are from.” He added
