Jurgen Klopp’s mission of a dream Liverpool double was enhanced with a 2-0 comfortable win over Portuguese side FC Porto in their quarter-final first leg match staged at a noisy Anfield on Tuesday night. Liverpool are still in with a very good shot at winning their first league title in 28 years and will feel they can do the double after Tuesday’s controlled performance against Porto.

The hosts went ahead with their first attacking move started off by the evergreen James Milner playing at left back, he fed Mane who tuned the ball to Roberto Firmino, his tee up to Naby Keita was perfect and the Guinea International blasted the ball into the roof of the net to give Liverpool the lead.

Mo Salah should have added another but his casual finish was agonizingly wide but Liverpool were not to be denied minutes later.

Roberto Firmino started and finished the move, picking the ball from the right-hand side before feeding Keita who in turn played an in perfect through ball to his right back who crossed for Firmino to apply a simple tap in. Liverpool coasted through the match and in the ned were the worthy victors.

Liverpool were finalists in this competition last season only for a reckless challenge by Sergio Ramos on Mo Salah that left the Egyptian in pain and tears, forced out with injury with Liverpool the better side early on. Nothing has been decided at this stage of the season yet but with performances such as these, the double dream might become reality in a months time!
