How was it to play with Man United boss? Barcelona ace recalls

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has shared memories of playing with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his Manchester United days as he credited him for helping him settle at the club.

Pique and Solskjaer played together under Sir Alex Ferguson for three years, until Solskjaer ended his playing career in 2007. The Spanish international joined United from Barcelona in 2004 when he was just 17, and he says Solskjaer, as one of the older players in the dressing room, helped him adapt to life in Manchester. Pique, however, returned to Barcelona in the summer of 2008 and transformed himself to be one of the best defenders in the world.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the United game, Pique revealed Solskjaer helped him adapt to life at Old Trafford, ” I’ll remember him as a great teammate when I arrived here. I was young, he was one of the older ones. For sure, he helped me adapt to the club, to the city.

“At the end of his career he had injury problems with training with him you could see that he had that quality to score goals. It was a great experience to play with him. I’m happy to see him doing well with Manchester United. They have won a lot of games, they’re playing a lot better. Tomorrow will be tough and we hope to win.”
