Ronaldo suffered a hamstring injury as Portugal drew their European Championship qualifier against Serbia last month.

The 34-year-old has not played for Juve since sustaining the problem but is expected to be back in the team for the first leg of their quarter-final clash.

Compatriot and Juventus defender, Joao Cancelo, thinks Ronaldo will be in the squad for their trip to Amsterdam.

And Cancelo, who is himself recovering from a calf strain, believes Ronaldo will do “anything” to play in the tie.

“I’m fine, I didn’t play in the last two games due to a calf strain,” Cancelo told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now I’m available, ready to take to the field in Amsterdam.

“Ronaldo’s been training and he’ll do anything to be there.

“I really think he’ll be called up.

“After that we’ll see if he plays from the start.

“The coach will decide.”

Earlier in the week Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri said he was “confident” Ronaldo will return after having missed the past three games for the Old Lady.

“Ronaldo always feels ready, but I told him to rest against Milan,” Allegri said.

“We are confident of having him at Ajax on Wednesday.”

Not that Ronaldo’s absence has been a problem for Juventus, as they currently hold a 20-point lead at the top of Serie A, with seven games league remaining.

Juventus come into their game against Ajax on a three-game winning streak.

Ajax have already claimed one major scalp in the Champions League after knocking out Real Madrid 5-3 on aggregate, despite losing the first leg 2-1 at home.

However, Juventus were also forced to come back from a 2-0 deficit to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last 16 match.

And it was Ronaldo who produced an impressive hat-trick at the Allianz Stadium in Turin to see them progress.

“Ronaldo always feels ready, but I told him to rest against Milan,” Allegri said.

“We are confident of having him at Ajax on Wednesday.”
