How “Mpango Wa Kando” Turned To Be A Death Trap

Having a Mpango wa Kando is like a norm to many Kenyan men. However, when the secret relationship comes to light, there is always damage to be incurred. The worst damage is a loss of life. Here is a story of a man who terminated his life over Mango wa kando issues.

Francis Mwai, a 43-year-old man from Kirinyaga County committed suicide early Tuesday after his wife asked him to terminate an illicit relationship with another woman, according to reports.

Francis Mwai’s wife, Alice Wangeci, convened a meeting on Monday evening in a bid to bring together her family. In the meeting, she included her family as well as that of her husband.

As the meeting was going on, Mr. Mwai excused himself at around 11 pm, causing the meeting to end but he never returned home. It was later learnt that he went to his lover’s house located in Thumaita Village.

A few minutes to 4 am on Tuesday Mwai called his wife, 40, on phone and ask her to go for him at his 38-year-old lover’s house. Obediently his wife went for him, and a quarrel ensued between them as they were heading back to their matrimonial home.

Upon arriving home, Mr. Mwai quickly got into the house and locked the main door from the inside. He, thereafter, went to the bedroom, where he tied a rope to the roof and committed suicide.

Mr Mwai’s brother, Joseph Muthike, says the deceased had even promised his wife he would leave his lover called Mary.
