Has the ground shifted under Raila Odinga’s feet or did he shift above the followers under his feet with his move to back Jubilee government? Whatever moved, it has not been to Raila’s political gain.

This being made abundantly clear by his loss of the Ugenya parliamentary seat in his home county of Siaya and the Embakasi South seat in Nairobi that he considers his turf in last week’s by-elections shortly after he had pleaded with the people of Ugenya and Nairobians not to embarrass him.

So shocked by the humiliating thrashing was Raila that his insiders say that after the defeat, Raila took the initiative to call those mandated to oversee the by-elections, asking what went wrong.

Blame games are on within ODM with word that two factions exist within the party out to undo each other. The individuals involved are using the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila for their personal gains.

They have landed lucrative positions in parliament and the Senate to get hefty allowances.

The question that arises is, is the handshake costing Raila politically. Some are even said to be using the handshake to cut multimillion business deals as they are seen to be close to Raila.

In fact, political analysts say just like opposition supporters accuse Raila of having initiated the handshake deal for his own personal gains after many died fighting for his “victory” in the 2017 presidential elections, his allies are also perfecting the same game. Raila is not only facing rebellion in Luo Nyanza but the entire strong opposition zones in Kenya which feel cheated by his political schemes.

They are discovering too late that it was not about them as they imagined, but about Raila who crossed over to Canaan alone leaving them in Egypt.

Uhuru stole Raila’s votes and the same Uhuru is now using Raila to fight William Ruto. Raila is indeed a foolish fool. He will be used and dumped !

With the defeat of ODM in the two constituencies, fear now is that the party is likely to be defeated in a by-election set for in North Eastern and to an extent, in Malindi if Aisha Jumwa’s expulsion from the party leads to a by-election.

Am a Luo & at some point I thought DP Ruto resigned being the DP & went to vie in Ugenya / #EmbakasiSouth. Everyday ODM sang ooh DP this ooh DP that. Next mtaambia nini watu wa Malindi?😂

Those in the know say that after the Ugenya defeat, Raila went on a drinking spree and at one time called Junnet Mohammed, the ODM director of elections questioning what happened.
