Controversial ODM MP Babu Owino has declared support to children of the deceased quintuplets mother of Kakamega.

While expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased, the vocal lawmaker blamed the Kenyan health system for failing Kenyans.

“I commit to supporting her family during this trying time. We will do our best to ensure her surviving children are looked after,” Babu said.

Ms Namukhula, who hailed from Shisokhe Village in Navakholo, died on Sunday from a complication at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.

Two (both boys) of her five infants also died last week following complications, while the surviving babies are still being monitored in the hospital.

The deceased and her husband, Herbert Wawire, have four other children and lived in Sisokhe Village, Navakholo Constituency.

MTRH chief executive Dr. Wilson Aruasa said the mother suffered pulmonary embolism — a blood clot blocked a blood vessel in her lungs.

“This morning, doctors recommended a CT scan to identify the spot of the blood clot. Immediately after the scan, she vomited, started sweating and had difficulty in breathing before collapsing at midday,” Dr. Aruasa said.
