A win for David Ochieng has been celebrated big by Ugenya people who took it to the market on Saturday morning chanting His name. Young, Old, Men, Women and children filled the streets singing ochieng’s name

Movement for Democracy and Growth party candidate David Ochieng has was pronounced a winner early saturday after beating his rival Chris Karan.

Mr. Ochieng earned 18,730 votes to defeat ODM’s Chris Karan who got 14,507 votes. Other contestants were Daniel Juma of Grand Dreams Development party who got 78 votes followed by Thirdway Alliance party’s Brian Omondi (27).

“The will of the people can never be diverted; their wish will always emerge victorious,” Mr Ochieng said.

NULLIFIED

The by-election was called after the Kisumu High Court nullified Mr Karan’s win over irregularities.

Mr Ochieng founded the party following his defection from ODM after he was accused of disloyalty.
