Angry Raila Calls For an ODM Crisis Meeting as Orengo Finds Himself in Hot Soup

ODM has called for a crisis meeting after it lost two by-elections in Nairobi county and Raila Odinga own home turf of Siaya County.The meeting to be chaired by Raila will be held early next week.

It is said upon learning his party had been defeated,Raila called Siaya senator James Orengo and governor Cornel Rasanga asking what really happened on ground.

It has been established that party chairman John Mbadi and director of election Junnet Mohammed are blaming Orengo for imposing and misleading the party that Chris Karani was popular.

It is said,Orengo has personal issues with David Ochieng who at one time worked at his law firm.

Ochieng, a former area MP got 18, 730 votes against Karan’s 14, 507, with Grand Dreams Development Party (GDDP) aspirant Daniel Juma taking the third place with 78 votes.

Brian Omondi of the Third Way Alliance party had 27 votes.

Ochieng was on The Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party ticket.

Ugenya is now the only constituency in Siaya without an ODM mp. Alego Usonga, Gem, Bondo, Rarieda and Ugunja legislators are ODM allied.

In Ugenya, an area perceived to be Raila’s backyard. ODM also suffered a major blow in Embakasi South after Irshad Sumra of ODM was defeated by Wiper candidate Julius Mawathe.

Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes against Sumra’s 7,988 votes. Other contestants in the race included Ramesh Gorassia who got 323 votes, Zablon Rashid 321, Urbanus Kalumba 119, Alexander Mulatya 97, Samwel Masaki 49, Jairus Musyoka 36, Angela Nyalita 35, Peter Ogeta 26, Credius Oigara 21, Augustine Kavindu 13, Roseline Awino 16, Enos Nyakweba 4, Enoch Nyaribori.
