The voter turn out was low unlike what the IEBC expected. The party’s Director of Communications Philip Etale said a number of people were arrested by ODM team and handed over to the police for allegedly engaging in voter bribery.

“ODM SG @edwinsifuna and party youths have arrested some guys in Embakasi South bribing voters at a polling station in Kwa Njenga. They have handed them over to the police,” wrote Etale.

According to elections Act, bribery is an offense and can cost victory of a candidate if convicted in the court of law. In fact, in the ongoing Ugenya by-election, Chris Karan lost his seat due to bribery allegations.

The seat fell vacant after the High court nullified Mawathe’s victory last year.
