Kenya Red Cross launch rehab and innovation lab in Lamu County

Kenya Red Cross has today launched a rehabilitation centre and an innovation lab in the efforts of boosting of access for services to rehab clients and involving them in life changing programs.

Some of the officials who joined the Kenya Red Cross team during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Innovation Lab in Lamu include DPP Noordin Haji, CJ Maraga and NACADA Director Chipukeezy.

This innovation lab will bring together creative minds to design solutions and build products to address challenges faced within local communities.

Clients of the Kenya Red Cross Lamu Rehabilitation Facility will also have access to the Innovation Lab, where they will receive trainings on entrepreneurship and skills building, supporting their re-integration into the Society.

Red Cross believes that a community where creativity, passion and determination exists will fuel economic prosperity and growth.

The Innovation Lab will host an ideation space and a production workshop, making available state of the art equipment used in woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting and electrical works.

The Kenya Red Cross Rehabilitation center will serve not just Lamu County but is a National Center with a regional reach.

This facility [Kenya Red Cross Rehabilitation Centre] in Lamu cost Ksh 108 million to construct.

These two projects will be a great boost to the local community and society in general.
