Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ed Woodward Fail To Agree On ONE Thing After Talks

It is understood that United are ready to overhaul their squad this summer to mount a Premier League title charge next season.

Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are all likely to leave Old Trafford.

Manchester United are then expected to pursue a centre-back and a winger after raising funds.

Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Raphael Varane and Kalidou Koulibaly top United’s defensive wishlist.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is their top target to bolster Solskjaer’s front line at Old Trafford.

Express Sport understands West Ham’s Declan Rice has been earmarked as a possible signing this summer.

However, according to The Metro, Solskjaer and Woodward are yet to agree on a transfer budget.

They say the United boss and the executive vice-chairman held discussions last month, however, the issue wasn’t resolved.

Solskjaer’s transfer budget would be boosted by around £60m if United finish in the top four to secure Champions League football for next season.

The chances of signing the likes of Sancho, Varane or Koulibaly would also diminish if United have to settle for the Europa League.

The Metro add that United will heavily back Solskjaer in the transfer window regardless of whether the Norwegian guides the Red Devils to a top four finish.

Solskjaer signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford last week after impressing as interim boss.

A lot has been made of United’s summer transfer plans, with Red Devils hero Gary Neville urging Solskjaer to sign four or five players.

He said: “United have a big, big job. There are four or five players that Solskjaer will want to keep that are out of contract and he needs to tie down.

“There are four or five players he will need to bring in, and there are probably four or five players that he needs to get out.

“If you think about that in terms of the job over the next two or three months, you’ve got probably 12 live situations; four players to sign new contracts, four players to get into the club, four players to get out for the most money possible.

“That needs a good ‘wheeler dealer’ behind the scenes, someone who can manage that situation.

“United haven’t been brilliant at that in the last few years.

“I think that’s the big job. That’s not Solskjaer‘s job, but it will determine the outcome of his success in terms of the future.”
