Kingi’s planned strategy to upgrade Kilifi farmers

Kilifi County Government has taken up several initiatives to upgrade the lives of farmers and ensure that they easily earn from their efforts.

The County is also keen to ensure that there is high productivity linked to the farming activities.

Kilifi Goverbor Kingi says that they have made significant strides in diversifying and improving the agricultural sector by introducing new frontiers.

The most recent initiative through the department of agriculture, the county has distributed 254 hybrid Galla goats to Ganze farmers to promote goat farming both for milk and meat production.

Kingi noted that these efforts are geared towards empowering the local farmers by aggregating value, boosting incomes and ensuring daily subsistence leading to other viable enterprises.

The county is also working with an investor who is already setting up a slaughter house in Mariakani area and his demand is 300 goats per day.

Kingi’s government has so far distributed 1134 goats countywide and they are working closely with farmers to ensure they meet the market demand for goat meat.
