After Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal was arrested on Tuesday morning by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives over multi-million fuel scam in Samburu county, details have now surfaced revealing properties worth Kshs 581 million that he within one year.
He is expected to take plea over abuse of office, conflict of interest and economic crimes.
Lenolkulal’s deputy Julius Leseeto and 11 sitting and ex-chief officers are facing charges relating to over Sh84 million fuel scam.
Last month EACC commenced investigating Samburu county over the loss of over Sh2 billion.
According to DPP Haji, investigations established Lenolkulal was trading with the county government through Oryx Service Station for the supply of fuel since March 27, 2013, to date.
The governor is said to have failed and or neglected to disclose his interest in the said service station.
“It is clear that the governor engaged in conduct that is expressly prohibited in law and in clear violation of the constitutional principles governing the conduct of public state officers,” Haji said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
During the period in question, Oryx Service Station received a total of Sh84million from the Samburu County Government.
