Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga bagged a brace as his side Kashiwa Reysol recorded a 3-0 win over Varen Nagasaki in a J2 league clash staged at the Kashiwa Stadium on Wednesday.

Hosts Kashiwa took a ninth-minute lead through Taiyo Koga with Olunga adding a second in the 17th minute. Olunga was to bag his brace and Kashiwa’s third in the 40th minute as the home side went into the break with a three-goal advantage.

The win saw Kashiwa stop a two-game winless run and moved to third on the log with 15 points this after seven rounds of games. The 15 points mark puts them at per with leaders Kofu who beat Gofu FC 2-0 in another match of the day.

The game was Olunga’s second after coming from an injury that ruled him out of Harambee Stars last month’s African Cup of Qualifiers match against Ghana.

Olunga marked his return from injury last week in his team’s 0-2 loss at the hands of Tokyo FC.

The goals propelled his tally to three in the league having scored another brace in the Japanese Cup competition.

Olunga will hope he can carry the same form in the club next league game against Ryukyu FC on Sunday 7 April.
