Speaking on Sky Sports, the Stoke City midfielder explained why he thought that Fred’s mistake for the first goal knocked out the confidence of the team.
He said: “That’s the frustrating part, and that’s why it’s better to play poorly and win.
“Three points are important at this stage of the season for United’s needs. This was a game of chance. United had four or five chances and didn’t take them. Wolves had two or three chances and were clinical.
“Both mistakes from Manchester United. That’s the real disappointment in the game.
“The biggest thing about bravery to play, we want them to play, I felt like the Fred mistake for the first goal, the confidence went out of United team and they can’t afford to let that happen.
“Not just from Fred who you might expect it from but from the whole team.
“They were nervous on the ball and Wolves took advantage of that.
“That’s something you’re going to have to improve going forward. You’re a Manchester United player and you can’t let one little thing affect you.”
