The Murang’a politician who was arrested on Monday for allegedly conning a woman Sh3million in a version that demonstrated sophisticated robbery was released on Tuesday. Kagunduini Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Mburu Wamuthoni was released on Ksh.1.5million bond by Kigumo Law Court Principal Magistrate Agnes Mwangi.

He was arrested on Monday for allegedly conning the woman by pretending that he could offer her a tender to supply ballast to a Chinese company.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), other suspects are still being sought in connection to the crime.

“The suspect together with others he had introduced as an ‘Engineer’& a ‘senior staff’ at the Chinese company forged an agreement for the supply of ballast and in the process they defrauded the victim the said amount,” the DCI said.

The mention of the case has been set for April 16 while the case hearing is slated for July 24 this year.
