Uproar as Ruto Disrespects his boss; Refuses to Attend Kakamega Meeting

There was an uproar in Kakamega after DP Ruto refused to show up at a Huduma Namba event.

Huduma Centre registration took center stage on Tuesday as President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga went to Machakos and Mombasa respectively to launch the massive registration of people.

In Machakos, Uhuru was accompanied by CS Fred Matiang’i, Kalonzo Musyoka and all the three Ukambani governors; Alfred Mutua, Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana.

Ruto was set to launch the registration in Kakamega. Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his counterparts Mwangi Kiunjuri and Amina Mohammed were on the ground to receive him.

Mr Wamalwa told the crowd that the DP appears to be engaged elsewhere and had sent them to represent him.

It is telling that Ruto can miss such a highly publicized event.

CS Amina became the de facto chief guest.

Ruto later shared pictures of himself on social media meeting senior Cuban official; Ines Maria Chapman.

On Monday, the High Court allowed the government to launch the Huduma Namba registration but with several tough conditions pending the hearing and determination of a suit against the programme.

The State was barred from forcing Kenyans to register and from using the data to withhold any services or bar anyone from accessing public facilities.

In addition, the government cannot also share the collected information with international bodies.
