Wonders will never cease to happen as long as we live in this world.

Last month, hundreds of women from Chuka/Igambang’ombe, Maara and Tharaka constituencies stormed the Tharaka Nithi governor’s office in Kathwana, and dumped their underwears at the gate over what they termed gross disrespect of the women by the county chief.

The women faulted the county boss for demeaning them using derogatory remarks. They presented their grievances to the Chief of Staff  Wilson Murithi Mbiro as the Governor was not around but demanded that he apologizes immediately.

They accused the county boss of demeaning Senator Kithure Kindiki by referring him as ‘Mr Inspector who speaks with a feminine voice’ following a recent row between them over ownership of national projects.

They said said it was disrespectful for Njuki to abuse them considering that they played a big role in his gubernatorial victory.

Another woman added that Njuki insulted women by asking ladies to source for sponsors to finance beauty pageant as his government had no money to waste.

She also accused the county boss of reportedly financing MCAs to impeach Deputy Speaker Susan Ngugi whose impeachment motion is still active in Tharaka Nithi county assembly.

“They picked the undergarments using tree branches and piled them in a bucket before discarding them outside the county office headquarters. It remains unclear whether the cleaners burnt the panties and bras, or whether they threw them in a bin,” said Muuga FM journalist Lisper Kathure, who is based in Tharaka-Nithi County.

However, the governor, Muthomi Njuki, has dismissed calls by a section of the Ameru Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders that he offers a bull for sacrifice to ‘cleanse him and county government offices of the curse’.

Speaking on Monday at WERU PCEA church in Chuka/Igambang’ombe, Mr Njuki said the elders and the women were being used by his political rivals to intimidate him and disrupt his work.

But Njuri Ncheke County chapter chairman, Kangori M’Thaara, insists that if not cleansed, Mr Njuki’s government was likely to face a lot of misfortunes.
