Health workers in Turkana County are reportedly stealing drugs from County hospitals. According to the County government, the most affected hospital is Lodwar County referral hospital. In the last two months, patients have been complaining of missing and shortage of drugs at Lodwar referral hospital.
Lodwar County referral hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stephen Ekitela warned the health workers that those found stealing drugs will be sacked.
Speaking while launching the Youth friendly Centre at Lodwar county referral hospital, he said he is aware of the reports and complaints of missing drugs at the hospital despite the efforts of the county government to equip hospitals.

He added that the county government will carter for serious bills such as those wounded in attacks, people infected with HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and cancer patients.
