Babu Owino jets back with goodies for Kenyan youth

In his first stab at National politics, the Youthful Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has attracted love and hate in equal measure.

But what particularly stands out now his negotiation skills everyone else probably never knew about the doyen of campus politics.

In his first trip to Hungary, Mr Owino has come back to kenya with a bagful of goodies, including academic sponsorship and increased partnership between Kenya and Hungary.

Owino, was part of the special Kenyan delegation on a 4-day visit to Budapest following the invitation of Hungarian Speaker -László Kövér.

Babu was seen alongside National Assembly Speaker – Justin Muturi, during the special sittings and went on to reveal details of the discussions with Hungarian President – János Áder, on his Facebook page.

“This has been an extremely productive visit and I wish to thank the Speaker Hon Justin Muturi for the opportunity and the people of Hungary for their warm hospitality,” stated an excerpt of his post.

Deal sealed

The Embakasi East MP revealed that they discussed ways of expanding scholarship programmes and affirmed that an agreement was reached.

He also confirmed that more candidates would be granted the opportunity to pursue further studies in Hungary.

“We managed to agree on the expansion of the scholarship programme that will see tens of additional young people get opportunities to study in Hungary,” he confirmed.

Babu added that removal of tariff on Fast Moving Consumer Goods produced for export had been tabled, in an effort to ensure young Kenyans have access to ready markets for their products.

The heightened relations between Kenya and Hungary has seen 100 annual scholarships for Kenyan students specializing in Health and Education sectors.

Speaker László, on his part, revealed that Hungary was honoured by the visit, asserting that Speaker Muturi was the first Kenyan Speaker to ever visit Hungary.

The Kenya National Assembly speaker invited his counterpart to visit the country as a guest during the National Prayer Breakfast scheduled for May.
