Liverpool scored a late goal in the wee minutes of the game to record three points against Tottenham to top in the Premier League ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand.
With eight games remaining,Liverpool hopes that their main rivals, Manchester City who have nine games to play slip for them to stay atop but Mohamed Salah believes that his side is doing the best they can as they race for the title.
Mohamed Salah promised Liverpool will continue to give everything in their pursuit of the Premier League title after another dramatic victory.
The Egyptian helped force a 90th-minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, his header being touched by Hugo Lloris off Toby Alderweireld and in at the Kop end.
It earned three more crucial points for the Reds in their battle with Manchester City for the crown on an afternoon when goals traded by Roberto Firmino and Lucas Moura looked to mean a point apiece.
Salah and co are two points clear of City again having played a game more – and the No.11 expressed the determination among the players to achieve their ultimate goal.
“It’s a big difference, especially if you see the fans after the game it was crazy,” he told Sky Sports when asked about the impact of late wins.
“They just really want to win the Premier League and we’ll do everything to make that happen. They help us a lot during the game, the atmosphere and they push you hard to create chances and play better.
“Big teams always find a way to get the points. Maybe in the second half we didn’t play at the top of our game but we won the game and that’s the most important thing. That’s a big team you always have to find a way to win and that’s what we did.”
Salah also shrugged off any debate over whether he should be accredited with the strike, which has gone down as an Alderweireld own goal, as irrelevant.
“The three points are the most important thing if they give the goal to me is not very important, I don’t care if not,” said the forward.
“I didn’t score for a couple of games, OK. I just play and I want to win the Premier League, that’s the most important thing for me.”
Liverpool return to action in five days’ time when they travel to Southampton.
City will have played again before the Reds run out at St Mary’s with Pep Guardiola’s side set to host Cardiff City on Wednesday and Salah knows winning momentum must continue.
“Each game is tough now, there is more pressure. You just keep yourself in the race and you just need to win,” he added.
“Southampton want points, they want to stay in the Premier League, so they’ll fight for their life also. We have to win each game.”
