Probe into Gakuru’s Death To Restart After Magistrate was arrested With Lawyer Chesang’s Murder Involved

The inquest on the death of Nyeri County former Governor Dr. Wahome Gakuru in a road accident at Kabati area in Murang’a County on November 2017 will start afresh following the arrest of the magistrate who was tackling it.

The probe was going on with 20 witnesses lined up to assist in the investigations but it was halted briefly after Nyeri Senior Resident Magistrate Maisy Omungala Chesang who was hearing the case was arrested in connection with killing of her husband Robert Chesang, who was an advocate of the High Court.

Nyeri Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo has directed the inquest to start afresh on June 25.  They are probing the circumstances that led to Gakuru’s death that left his personal assistant and bodyguard seriously injured but driver escaped unscathed.

Gakuru met his death as they were rushing from Nyeri to Nairobi for a morning interview on Kameme TV.  The Mercedes Benz they were traveling in hit guardrails that tore through and fatally injured Gakuru.
