Masauti’s milestones and future projections in the music industry

Kenyan Artist Masauti is currently among the celebrated artists and his musical prowess has earned him a huge following both locally and internationally.

The Singer is popularly known for his songs Kiboko, Gaga, Sare among other hits.

His rise in the music scene might come off as a smooth transition but Masauti says that it took time before he could feel appreciated for his talent.

Here is an exclusive Question and Answer session he has with his fans.

How did you start your music career?

I started singing in 2009 unprofessionally 2006.

Well I was within my peers who are musicians at that time I was about 6 and I used to nag them to take me to the studio with them until one day they caved in and let me tag along. During that time I was given a chance to do adlibs on one of tracks

What are some of the challenges you went through as you started out?

As an upcoming artist, earning a living from talent is not east and I faced a lot of  pressure from my family and friends as I found a way to sustain me.

After all these years what did you learn to do differently?

I was not very exposed and that used to limit me a lot.  Right now I can freely interact with my fans and get feedback.

Do you feel like the little attention you got in the beginning helped you work harder and now that you have it, has it changed your work ethic?

Back then I didn’t have the attention or spotlight that I have right now which has brought people in my life that give me new insight of everything.

what is the worst statement you’ve heard from a producer or music stable enroute success?

You’ll always be told it’s not good enough but I’m blessed to have been working with producers who see the best in me. So it’s always more of you can do we believe in you scenario.

what do you think about vulgarism and music produced in the kenyan music industry

I think our music has come a long way and has gone through a lot of influence from the out side world, now we are starting to really get our own sound as it was enticed and influenced with a lot of cultures. We are living in exciting times.

What do you feel needs to be corrected mostly in the Kenyan music industry?

I feel the laws governing copyright should be capped and reinforced in as much as there is the internet’ the mainstream still works. This will make the Kenyan shows hosted by Kenyan artists lucrative

Where would you classify yourself at the moment? Upcoming or stable artist in the industry?

I have a long way to go since my vision is to change the Kenyan music industry to music business. Bridge the gap between corporates and the entertainment scene and create new recenue streams for other artist.

would you criticize a fellow artists music in public?

No I won’t because I don’t have the moral authority to do so. Everyone has there own flaws.

What was it like working with Khaligraph Jones?

It was an awesome experience. Khaligraph Jones is one of the Kenyan artists who is really passionate about reclaiming the Kenyan music rightful throne and you can tell and see that it’s not just on social media but his work ethic, discipline and commitment to change the industry.

What are the most important qualities that every artist should have?

Patience, perseverance and hard work

What is your biggest dream in the  music industry?

My dream is to reach out to more people through music and to spread love. Right now I think it is time to fulfil my childhood dreams
