Forget Diego Simeone, this Premier League manager is the right man to replace Sarri at Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri has endured a tough baptism of fire during his first season in England and few would be surprised if the Italian was given his marching orders.

An initially excellent start to the season has been followed by a terrible run of form which has seen the Blues slip down the table and they now face a real fight to even make it back into the Champions League.

A refusal to change his tactics, his refusal to play Callum Hudson-Odoi and the over reliance on Jorginho have all been cited as criticisms of a manager who came to the Premier League with a stellar reputation.

A hugely lucky 2-1 win against Cardiff today may have yielded three points for Sarri but if anything the criticism of the manager has grown as a result of such a poor performance.

Sarri weaved his magic with both Empoli and Napoli in his native Italy but so far he has struggled to have the same impact in England and the former banker must be nervously wondering if he will prove to be a one and done season manager in the Premier League.

This summer will be crucial for this Chelsea squad for whichever manager is in charge and there is one stand out name in the Premier League that will surely come under serious consideration.

Nuno Espirito Santo has worked wonders at Wolves since making the move to England with The Black Country team riding high in the top flight in their first season back in the division after a terrific promotion campaign from the Championship.

Most importantly, Nuno has overseen a brilliant record against the top six for the Molineux club which indicates that this is a big game manager who will perfectly suit the higher echelons of the game.

Wolves should comfortably finish in the top half of the Premier League table and that might not be all with an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon for a club starved of top level success in recent years.

A number of big name coaches from across Europe have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months but the answer could be starring them in the face in England with Nuno a potentially excellent hire. The Portuguese coach now as experience in the Premier League which is crucial and add to that spells at Valencia and Porto and you are looking at an experienced and high class coach that could be the key to the Blues getting back towards the top of the table and challenging the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

No club seems to change Manager more than Chelsea but the results aren’t there for Sarri  (none of the previous six Chelsea managers have a lower win percentage than the Italian) and it could be yet another summer of transition at Stamford Bridge in terms of the man in the dugout and their best player.
