Kenyans woke up to the rude shock that
The counterfeit products were found at a Madora Kenya Store in Karen, and 2 suspects were arrested in the process.
But could there be more to this than meets the eye?
Indeed, some individuals on social media certainly think so!
According to online reports, some netizens believe that the government is targetting the Madora
This has resulted in massive profit margins for the company, and thus, not fallen well with the government.
According to some netizens, the nab today is a ploy by the government to send a message to the agency that they should give their share of the fat profits to the right individuals.
Additionally, frequent shoppers at Madora, have defended the authenticity of the products, saying that they have always checked the barcodes and the items have been original.
Here are what netizens had to say about the bust:
My personal experience with madora’s products has been nothing but a delight. I would prefer if they didn’t cost like ‘gold’ but their perfumes and lotions have served me really well.

Don’t think what Madora sells is non-genuine or counterfeit.
We need to learn to look at things beyond the ‘seemingly obvious’.
Ask yourself some ‘hard’ questions.. Who benefits if the Madora brand goes down? Could this be a trade war? Is it competition using guerilla tactics?

Madora seems to have not paid tax for the products that were seized that why the GOK says they are fake..Seems they being eating huge margin profits without paying tax greed is bad. pic.twitter.com/9FFZCOsjNF
