Why Patrick Vieira blames Cesc Fabregas for ending his Arsenal career

AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas has opened up on his recent encounter with former teammate Patrick Vieira.

Both midfielders played together for the Gunners between 2003 and 2005 before the Frenchman departed for Juventus.

Following his arrival from FC Barcelona, Fabregas became a key member in Arsene Wenger’s side forcing Vieira out of the line-up.

Upon the emergence of a young Fabregas, Arsenal became relaxed over their stance regarding keeping hold of Vieira.

The Gunners received an offer from Juventus for the French midfielder and offered him the chance to leave.

With the north London club willing to part ways with Vieira he opted to leave the club after nine years.

The former Gunners star recently met with Fabregas in France and joked about how the Monaco man ended his Arsenal career.

Fabregas told Nice-Matin:

“I saw Patrick Vieira when we played against Nice with Monaco.

“It was very funny because I met him in the locker room before the match, he was with the President of Nice and he said to him while looking at me: ‘President, this is the kid who made me leave Arsenal’.”
