The hotly contested Migingo Island became a hot topic on the Internet as President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, embarked on a two day visit to Kenya.

Kenyans have asked the Ugandan dictator to relinquish all claim on the Island before we can start discussing about the ties between the two ties.

In 2009, both Uganda and Kenya claimed the island which is known for its rich fish deposits. A survey later revealed that the Island lies 510 metres inside Kenya from the Ugandan border.

But dictator Museveni sent his soldiers to the Island who hoisted a Ugandan flag. The soldiers have been harassing Kenyan fishermen and beating them at times.

And now Kenyans want Museveni to relinquish it now.

n September 2018, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i warned Ugandan forces against arresting and extorting money from Kenyan fishermen.
