EACC officials have this morning arrested Siaya County officials over misappropriation of Ksh.22.5 million.
The anti graft body said they arrested Kepha Marube – former county secretary, Tobias Oloo, former Director Supply Chain and three directors/proprietors of a private company Mu-salem Company Ltd.
A letter sent to the office of Siaya County Secretary in 2018 stated that some of the irregularities that the anti-graft commission is investigating include irregular payments made to some consultancy firms.
Other cases investigated included abuse of office and embezzlement of public funds in two water projects in the financial year 2014/2015 and 2016/2017.
Early this Month, Anti-corruption officials raided Siaya County government offices and took away documents and computers said to be containing vital information.
The more than 20 officials from Nairobi and Kisumu who were accompanied by police officers raided the offices of the county secretary Kepha Marube, legal adviser Leonard Okanda, procurement, health and finance departments.
