What would you do if you had just alighted a public vehicle aka matatu and you had a bitter exchange of words with the driver , but this was no ordinary driver this was a driver filled with stress and energy to escalate this war of words to a full on blows and kicks war. When push comes to shove you have to do the necessary as the victim to protect yourself, but the driver has something up his sleeve a weapon , a crude weapon which can leave one paralyzed. This was the case for one Kangundo route plying passenger.
The matatu’s registration number is KAK 251C. A matatu driver for one of the popular vehicles operating along Kagundo Road, Nairobi, has assaulted a passenger with a metallic rod.
In a video ,the driver is seen continually hitting the passenger over a dispute. In the video, the driver is seen to have left the steering wheel of his matatu that was parked on the highway, as he came with a rod and started hitting the passenger.
You will wonder what kind of society we live in as the victim was being assaulted was not getting help from onlookers who were just standing a stone’s throw away just filming like it was an action scene they would like to resell later like a sequel. The seemingly overpowered passenger kept asking for help from the onlookers who by the end of the video did not come to his aid. It is however not clear what led to the brutal confrontation of the driver and the passenger.
However, the angry driver is later heard asking why the passenger attacked him. The unidentified passenger is then heard responding ranting that the driver had hurt him with a rod. At the end of their tussle, the passenger is seen bleeding from his head.
