Reverend Margaret Auma of St Stephen’s Cathedral Maseno South complained that some young people have been stealing from church members.

On Sunday, she warned church members to be wary of boys who have been stealing assorted items during prayer.

Auma said churchgoers have lost cash and phones to the boys. “Some of the boys come from the airport area,” she told the congregation.

The cleric said a suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.

She said the boys walk in and out of the church as they plot how to steal from unsuspecting congregants.

Another priest told parents to instil morals in their children.

Rev Millicent Apidi who delivered a sermon in the same church on Sunday said parents have a responsibility to bring up children in the right way.

“As parents, we must play our role by nurturing children to be truthful, honest and responsible. Taking them to the police may not be the best solution. We must guide them properly,” she said.
