Is Liverpool manager ready to offload Naby Keita after failing to impress?

Liverpool are under pressure to deliver as well as bag for themselves a trophy especially the Premier League which they have not done for a while but some of the player are upto task.

Shock claims have emerged that Liverpool are set to sell Naby Keita after just one season.

The Reds splashed out £50million on the midfielder in the summer but Keita has struggled to cement a regular place in Liverpool’s first team.

He’s been linked with a move to either Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund, but is very unlikely to leave Liverpool given what Jurgen Klopp has previously said about his development.

This isn’t the only time the Liverpool manager has spoken out about the midfielder in recent months, prior to these transfer claims emerging.

Earlier in March Klopp was asked why both Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are being rotated, and what this says about their futures at Anfield.

Interestingly, Klopp brushed off the players being rotated as nothing more than something that has to happen in the modern game to fend off injuries.

On March 9 the Reds boss i”It is about our situation in training and what’s needed individually for the next opponent. That is all that we think about.

“We don’t stick to one formation or the other, but the boys need to offer. Sometimes it is more possible and sometimes it is not possible for different reasons.

“Sometimes we don’t have the sessions. Then it’s more difficult to offer something. It’s all part of the decision making.”

Klopp added: “It’s just that we have to think about a lot of things before a game. We played quite a few teams with really good set-pieces, stuff like that. We needed to make sure that we had the right line-up and set-up for that.

“Naby is actually in a good moment and has trained well. It’s only been the last three games he didn’t play too much.

“The team is in a good moment and we feel in a good moment so it’s difficult if things are working out well in midfield.

“If we play the system we usually play most of the time then there are only three positions [in midfield]. Somebody has to be out but it’s all good. They are all fit and we can use them all.”
