Dr. Miguna Miguna has joined DP William Ruto’s bandwagon in spewing venom against Hon Raila Odinga’s academic credentials.
The accusations against Hon Raila by these two forces (Ruto and Miguna) who have a wide disparity in Kenya’s political ideology have received substantial criticism from the former’s allies.
Deputy President William Ruto was the first to attack Raila Odinga last week terming the opposition chief as a fake engineer.
Then Canada based lawyer Miguna Miguna also chipped purporting that the college he (Raila) went to did not have an engineering faculty in the 1960s.
“That was not an ACCREDITED university or technical institute in East Germany in the 1960s when Raila purportedly graduated from there. In addition, that school did not have an engineering faculty in the 1960s. Raila must come up with better lies.” tweeted Miguna.

“@RailaOdinga claimed that he attended a “university” that did not exist when he allegedly studied in East Germany in the 1960s. The said school did not have an engineering faculty or programs yet @RailaOdinga claims that it awarded him a degree in engineering.” Miguna added.
However, political analyst David Ndii and other keen friends have come out with facts to prove that indeed Raila’s credentials are genuine.

He is registered as a mechanical engineer in Kenya since the board does not have manufacturing eng. category, or chemical eng. for that matter. Degree is an english word. “Diplom” is not a diploma, its german language for degree. Even a doctorate is called a “diplom”

German system of education was different before Bologna process.The institute was a Hochschule, the generic term in Germany for institutions awarding academic degrees in higher education. In the 1960s, they awarded Diplom, an equivalent of BA/BSc. & MA/MSc. Cheers.
