Speaker Muturi,Lusaka partners with Rwanda parliamentarian to deepen Cooperation

The Parliaments of Kenya and Rwanda have through their Senates signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen the cooperation ties between two institutions.

Signing the MOU, Hon Kenneth Lusaka noted that Parliamentarians were now, more than ever, stepping outside their legislative chambers to speak directly with their international counterparts.

He said the MoU provides a solid framework for cooperation betweentwo institutions where they will undertake to foster inter parliamentary cooperation in legislative and technical matters in thematic areas.

“Developing initiatives for the strengthening of the capacity of parliamentary staff in our respective legislatures enhances the quality of output made by parliamentarians,”He said.

On his part, the President of the Senate of Rwanda, Rt Hon Bernard Makuza noted that beneficial and sincere partnerships such as the Kenya-Rwanda one is an essential component for the success path the two countries envision for their people.

“The signing of this MoU is a very significant milestone for our Senates and sets the tone for harmonizing our mutual interests in regional continental and international multilateral parliamentary bodies such as CPA, IPU, PAP and EALA,” emphasized Rt Hon Makuza.

Both Speakers were optimistic that the relations between the two national legislatures would flourish and be in tandem with the Executive-led warm relations exhibited by their countries’ Presidents.
