Arsenal was highly hopeful of getting much from the services of Denis Suarez who moved from Barcelona in January.

But things have not worked out for Suarez at all and now he slams at his critics who have constantly attacked him following his poor show at Emirates.

With Unai Emery bringing five new players to north London in the summer, a lack of money at the Emirates meant that the Gunners could only sign players on loan back in January.

Suarez was constantly in the headlines regarding a potential move to Arsenal before the transfer deadline, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Christopher Nkunku also a potential option for Emery given the pair had previously worked together in the French capital.

However, it was Suarez who ended up at the club after they finally agreed on a deal with Barcelona after he had penned a contract extension at the Nou Camp.

The 25-year-old has only appeared in six games since his move and a return to his parent club at the end of the season looks a certainty unless they see a dramatic turnaround.

French football expert Julien Laurens believes one of the reasons for Suarez’s lack of action is due to his performances on the training pitch at London Colney.

“It hasn’t really worked out for Suarez,” he told Premier League Today. “It is nothing Emery could have guessed before, anyone else at the club, not even Suarez.

“On paper he looked like a good signing, it’s a loan, let’s see what he can do in England.

“It turns out even at training maybe Emery has seen that he was not good enough to give him more game time.

“So I think this one obviously is not going to go any further.”

Suarez is now in Dubai with a number of his Arsenal teammates as they do some warm weather training ahead of their game against Newcastle United at the start of April.

The ex-Man City youngster took to social media on Friday and hit out at his critics with a 10-word message as he tweeted a video of him in action during a session.

He tweeted: “Don’t talk about my workouts if you have no idea.”

Yet to start a game for the Gunners in his short time in the capital, Suarez will be hoping for a change in fortune over the remaining few weeks of the season with the team facing a hectic schedule.

Arsenal face eight games in April, with the prospect of two Europa League semi-finals and a final in May as well as their two remaining league games.
