Sad! How depression has left Kenyan toddler motherless

Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

One Kenyan mother, Millicent Kithinji has committed suicide living her young daughter motherless. She took away her life hours after sharing a suicidal note where she bid her daughter good bye. As seen from most of her posts, she has been battling depression which the possible source is the relationship with her baby daddy.

From a story she had previously shared, he baby daddy was not communicating with her as her daughter blamed her for keeping her away from the day.

“As a parent I have never felt the way today am feeling my 3yr old daughter today said to me “naenda na niende kapsaar” then am like ..where are you going??where did you hear that people go and go completely??why are you going??come on am your mom and you woun’t find any other mom. Then she calls me “”mum umeskia??”. Then I ask her ..unaenda wapi ?then she says naenda tao..mbona uanenda ?

Then she she tells me ..Sasa unaona Sina simu yangu..am like Yu have never had a phone of your own then she says to me Sasa hunipei simu niongee na dad,,the dad is away.then I reply mum dad ako mteja na tumempigia umeskia.then she tells me wewe hutaki tupige ..then she says nataka tupige ,tupige Hadi iingie.niko like ok chukua simu upige then takes and asks me nionyeahe number ya dad I show her and she starts to call.

First time second third then she starts to cry….very loudly..then my mom comes and she asks ..makena mbona unalia..and she says..mom hanipei simu niongee na dad…then I interject and say iko mteja..then she says..shosho mbona dad haongei na Mimi mi Ni mbaya ??then the shosh says to her no…Ni eti simu iko mteja ..but inaingia mtu anaongea na SI dad..the voicemail subscription then shosh asks her unataka kula Nini and they leave to prepare mayai..

Then here am left with deep thoughts..y do you want to go away from me my angel??where have I failed you? But I love you.i struggle so much to provide for you.. although at the moment I don’t have a job so getting you some stuff you ask is hard but I always promise to buy you.. and try to
Look for one thoughsome times

I end up in fake adverts and in the hands of con men where I end up wasting some resources I would have used to provide for you but I know God has preserved ours..it’s only the time has not reached for him . I ask God to give me sufficient Grace to be able to love you and provide for you as I promised in the alter during your baptism.I know God gave me the best gift I could afford to care for.”
