Home girl titleholder Fatuma ‘Iron’ Fist Zarika and Zambian challenger Catherine Phiri promised fans a ring battle for the legend during their World Boxing Council (WBC) women Super bantamweight title bout that will be the main event of Nairobi Fight Night 2 on Saturday.

The Kenyan first won the title after she dethroned the then-defending champion Alicia Ashley of Jamaica on October 1, 2016, in a shock victory in New York.

We’re going to Ghana for three points-Sebastian Migne

The main question lingering in the lips and minds of many Kenyans as the national team, Harambee prepares for their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group “F” qualifier against the Black Stars is whether they’re going to stand the pressure of the hosts at the 40,000-seater Accra Sports stadium on Saturday from 9pm.

Ghana boasts of seven wins against Kenya’s two in 11 meetings with two matches ending in a draw. The four-time continental champions have hosted Kenya thrice in Accra but lost once when they went down 3-1 on June 13, 2003 in a friendly match.

French and Harambee coach Sebastien Migne revealed his charges were not under pressure despite both nations having already qualified for the 24-team competition will be held in Egypt from June 21 to July 19.

The two teams will be fighting for the group leadership. Kenya top the group on seven points, one ahead of Ghana. Kenya shocked the fancied Black Stars 1-0 in their reverse qualifying fixture at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in September last year.

“Even if it were a crucial qualification match, we still would’ve taken it easy,” the 46-year-old Migne said, moments before they boarded a six-hour flight to the west African nation via Addis Ababa on Thursday.

The 22-man squad safely touched down at Kotoka International Airport, Accra Thursday afternoon and are set to feel the pitch at Accra Friday evening.

“This will be a chance for me to gauge the players ahead of Afcon finals,” Migne added.

The former Congo Brazzaville coach has however come under sharp criticism from a section of fans over a last minute exclusion of Zambia-based hitman Jesse Were.

The Zesco United striker, who has made 26 appearances for Kenya, was called up to replace Japan-based Michael Olunga, who sustained a hamstring injury while on club duty.

Despite his great form both in the Zambian league and in African club football, Migne seemed to have other ideas.

Libya-based Masoud Juma, Sofapaka’s Pistone Mutamba, Kakamega Homeboyz sharpshooter and current league top scorer Allan Wanga are the strikers who made the cut.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah took his players through their paces on Wednesday night at the match venue.

Let The Gini Out The Bottle? Fans React To Wijnaldum Goal For Netherlands

The Netherlands beat Belarus 4-0 last night and two of our boys were on the scoresheet – Georginio Wijnaldum swept it past the ‘keeper inside the box, while Virgil Van Dijk nodded in the fourth.

Wijnaldum, in particular, had Reds fans singing his praises and not just for finding the target; he was a commanding presence all night and earned the penalty that Memphis Depay converted.

Us Reds fans were obviously made up to see the two Dutchmen scoring, but Gini smashing one home has an extra resonance.

Before arriving at Liverpool, Gini’s time at Newcastle saw him playing in a more attacking midfield role netting 11 goals in his one season there.

In contrast, Klopp has used his athleticism and stamina to establish him as more of an anchoring midfield threat (with the occasional bursts forward, of course). We love Gini, but he needs to let loose and score a few more goals.

This is a bit harsh to be fair, but it does show that fans want him to the two goals he’s scored this season for Liverpool.

That’s more like it, James! Jürgen needs a collective, ball-winning effort in the middle of the park to release it out wide to our full-backs or to send it up to Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah to play through the lines.

Again, harsh but maybe true. That goal he scored against Bournemouth was absolutely sublime though. Gini’s tactical responsibilty at Liverpool, in a midfield three, forces him into that “workhorse” label where he’s winning the ball.

Eden Hazard MOCKS Thibaut Courtois After Belgium Mistake

Courtois was left blushing after a monumental mistake saw the 2018 World Cup hosts equalise in the first-half last night.

The shot-stopper attempted to dribble the ball out of his box – but under pressure ended up gifting it straight to Denis Cheryshev, who then rounded him and slotted into an empty net.

Luckily for Courtois, Belgium won the tie 3-1 thanks to two goals from Hazard.

And the Chelsea attacker was quick to mock his former club team-mate in his post-match interview.

“Thibaut Courtois watches a lot of videos of my actions and then he tries to copy me,” Hazard said.

“The problem is: he is much taller than me, so it isn’t that easy.”Hazard‘s comments come after.

Chelsea fans will be enjoying Hazard‘s comments regarding how Courtois left west London.

The former Blues No 1 exited Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid in the summer and is now deemed a ‘snake’ by Chelsea fans.

But Courtois is not enjoying a happy March for Madrid either.

The goalkeeper was dropped by boss Zinedine Zidane for his first game back, with Keylor Navas preferred.

“Keylor – I like him but I like Courtois as well,” said Zidane.

“Thibaut has shown that he is a great goalkeeper but I want Keylor to feel important too.

“I haven’t forgotten what he’s accomplished here.

“He’s played less until now and he should play [more often].

“The same goes for Marcelo as what I said about Keylor.

“It does not matter if it’s Courtois, Reguilon or the one who took Isco’s place.

“What I want is to get all the players back to their level.

“Today Keylor played, and Thibaut will play too, and we have Luca as third keeper.

“Madrid need two, three, four great keepers.

“So the coach always has the problem, but I will count on both until the end of the season, then we will see.”
