Liverpool’s Mane Only Ninth Best Player This Season Based On Stats, Shock Third Place

Mane has been in fine form this campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists to help fire Liverpool towards the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently ahead of Manchester City by two points with just seven matches remaining, although their rivals hold a game in hand.

Mane has been the driving force behind this title charge recently, outgunning a misfiring Mohamed Salah who hasn’t scored since the 3-0 win over Bournemouth at the start of February.

However, data from Whoscored.com suggests the Salah has been the more consistent performer in the top flight.

Using a wide range of statistics to generate individual match ratings, players have then been awarded an average score for the season so far.

Mane ranks ninth in the Premier League with a rating of 7.41, trailing Liverpool team-mates Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Manchester City players make up seven of the top 20 while there is a surprise Tottenham ace coming in at No 3 after just a couple of impressive appearances this season.

No Arsenal stars make the cut but Manchester United and Chelsea are represented while their are also players from Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Everton and Newcastle in the elite list.
