Gor drawn with Moroccan Berkane in Caf Confederations cup quarters; Is Kogelo’s finest ready take on the giants?

Kenya Premier League Champions, Gor Mahia, are in for a struggle as they prepare to battle it out with Moroccan giants, RS Berkane, in the Caf Confederation Cup quarters.

This as revealed in the knock-out phase draw pairing the two teams.

Berkane had a spectacular campaign through the group stages of the competition, finishing top of Group A with 11 points.

Gor on their part finished second in Group D with nine points, level with group toppers, Zamalek.

The Kenyan side made history by reaching the quarter finals of the continental showpiece on Sunday, March 17, when they edged Angola’s Petro Atletico 1-0 at Kasarani Stadium.

Berkane, who won the Moroccan Throne Cup in 2018, currently sit ninth in their domestic league with 27 points.

Incidentally, unlike K’Ogalo, this will be the first time the North African club will be making their appearance in this stage of the continental competition.

Tunisia is the only African nation with two teams left in the last eight, including CS Sfaxien which will take on Egypt’s Zamalek and Etoile du Sahel who will battle Sudan’s Al Hilal. The federation conducted the quarter finals draw on Wednesday, March 20, at its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
