Wenger not in top 10 on list of best managers

France Football, one of the most reputable magazines in European football, has placed Sir Alex Ferguson second on its top 10 list of greatest ever managers.

The Magazine released their list yesterday where Dutch legend, Rinus Michels, reins supreme for his exploits at Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona and the Netherlands national team.

One of the game’s top modern innovators, Pep Guardiola, is on fifth spot, while the list also reveals a large domination of Dutch and Italian influence.

The publication explained its criteria as follows:
“What is a great coach? How to compare two major technicians to sometimes more than half a century of distance? And, in the end, what is the best of them, all times combined? In order to make its choice and establish its Top 50, France Football has chosen three main criteria – the club winners, the trace and the legacy left on the game, the personality – to which is added, implicitly, a fourth: the duration and the impact of the career.”
