Wasafi Producer speaks on the ban of Kwangwaru hit in schools

Wasafi Producer Lizer has shared his thought and reaction after the ban of the Kwangwaru hit in schools.

The ban was announced by moral police Ezekiel Mutua last week when he expressed dissatisfaction on how foreign artists are undermining Kenya’s culture with their music.

Mutua said that he was not impressed by children singing coded songs such as Kwangwaru and their parents seemingly enjoying and recording them.

Lizer who is the audio producer of the Kwangwaru song; which was released 11 months ago says that he saw the news and if true, although any producer would feel bad, he has some reasons not to feel a pinch.

Lizer says that the song already got the fame and hype it deserved and it’s time is now passed.

On whether he plays a role in making sure that the Wasafi artists are decent in their work, Lizer says that he gives advise whenever he feels there is something inappropriate.

However, the current music he says that at times there is need for artists to drop in controversial statements.

With the role that BASATA plays now in regulating the songs, Lizer says that there is a difference since they now have a body that filters and regulates their content.
