Yvonne Okwara is one of Kenya’s laid back news anchors, in fact, people only know that she got married to an older guy. Many were actually wondering why and she has finally come forward to explain.
Speaking during an interview with a local daily, Yvonne said;
“People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight, but again, no one lives my life but me. My husband is my best friend, we get along incredibly well, and none of these other issues have ever mattered”.
Yvonne first met her husband and renowned veterinary Surgeon Andrew Matole at his office where she had taken her sick pet for treatment.
Yvonne who was 31 at the time began dating the 47-year-old doctor and they eventually got married.
They tried to keep their relationship as private as possible but people soon found out about their huge age difference. As expected, everyone talked trash.
However, Yvonne didn’t let the haters get to her. Her heart had settled for daktari and there was no going back. Watasema mchana na usiku watalala. And despite the fact that she hasn’t been able to have children yet, she isn’t worried.
“It will happen if it’s meant to happen. I really, truly, don’t take to any societal pressures. Ever. Because I’m such an intrinsic person, if there’s ever any pressure, it would have to be from myself. Never from the outside world,” She said.
