William Ruto is no doubt the most popular politician in the country currently. Ruto is a sharp politician. In fact his recent change of political advisers shows that Ruto is tactical and always determined to stay ahead of his competitors.
But there is one thing that is surely going to derail Ruto’s ambitions if not properly looked into. His careless utterances will be his undoing and this does not augur well for him. He is an ambitious man but with his poisonous words, he can bid his dreams for the presidency goodbye in 2022.
Ruto over time has found himself on the receiving en thanks to his ‘careless’ remarks over tricky serious situations. Th reason why President Uhuru Kenyatta has survived the test of time is because of his ability to judge an keep a low profile in matters that are sensitive and considered of public interest.
It all started with Jubilee’s campaigns and manifestos with Ruto publicly announcing live on nation TV’s that if given power, they as Jubilee government were going to built several stadiums in the country.
seven years down the line after taking over power, the promise has never materialized. Kenyans where even recently making fun of Ruto’s clip and surely this is fast damaging his reputations and dealing a major blow to his 2022 ambitions.
While Ruto was all over the stage ‘Pampering’ electorates with ‘goodies’ Uhuru was quiet letting his deputy to fry himself using his own oil. It seems Ruto never learned from Raila’s situation when he was used by former President Mwai Kibaki to evict Mau Forest encroaching populace which later came to haunt him.
Recently Kimwarer and Arror Dam scandals erupted and without first judging an giving DCI time to conduct investigations, Ruto was all over the media again bashing and correcting the investigative agents on the exact amount of money that got lost!
On Monday, Ruto was at it again correcting the media on reports that people had lost lives in the escalating droughts that has hit most parts of the country. Despite evident reports from the media that people were dying, Ruto came out guns blazing and denied the facts. He said that no single person had lost their lives in Turkana and Baringo counties.
To make it worst, Ruto went ahead to threaten the chiefs who confirmed the information from the affected areas saying that they where going to face unspecified actions.
His myopic approach to issues will only serve to alienate him in the countdown to 2022 elections. His master Uhuru Kenyatta has decided to take a back seat and let Ruto fry himself.
Seeds of discontent are surely going to germinate and if Ruto doesn’t change is strategy of approaching national issues, he will surely be watching state house on Viu Sasa in 2022! The decision to redeem his tainted image is squarely lying on his hands. Its now or never!
