Giggs Quashes Ibrahimovic’s Criticism of Man United Class of 92

Ryan Giggs has defended his Class of 92 cohorts after Zlatan Ibrahimovic questioned their criticism of Manchester United .

Ibrahimovic said in an interview this week that the Class of 92 were ‘on TV and complaining all the time because they are not active in the club’.

But Giggs said he and his fellow academy graduates such as Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and David Beckham were entitled to their views on a club they support.

The Wales manager, who was speaking at Carrington after Wales’ had used United’s training ground to prepare for tomorrow’s friendly with Trinidad & Tobago, also suggested, with a raised eyebrow, that Ibrahimovic, who played 53 games for United, must know more about the club than the Class of 92

“When you play over 3,000 games between us, we’re going to have an opinion,” Giggs said.

“Sometimes positive and sometimes negative but I don’t think that has any bearing on results.

“We’re supporters of the club together with other ex-players who are on TV or radio – that’s what football is about, having different opinions.

“But obviously he knows more about the club than us.”

In an interview with The Mirror Ibrahimovic had suggested the Class of 92’s complaints stemmed from jealousy at not having a role at the club.

“They are not there anymore. They are on TV and complaining all the time because they are not active in the club. If you want to work in the club, go and search for work in the club,” he said.

“With Pogba, he was with United when he was young, then he went out and he came back.

“And in the circle of Ferguson, they don’t like that. Because they stayed all their life under Ferguson and they never moved from Ferguson.

“And they didn’t even talk if Ferguson didn’t tell them to open their mouth. So now if they are talking, I don’t know whether Ferguson gave them permission or not.”
