Edith Kimani wows Kenyans with her heartwarming message to Janet Mbugua and Larry Madowo

Edith Kimani a presenter at an international TV station, DW, has marked her 10 years in journalism in style. She became a frequent face on our TV screens after winning a popular TV presenter competition on KTN. She climbed the ladder to become the face of Primetime news to where she is today.

Through her Instagram account, she penned down a lovely letter to Janet Mbugua and Larry Madowo for helping her meet her goals. She wrote; “Levitate! It’s fitting that this post marking my 10 years in journalism was taken by the Baobab tree- native to Africa and famously adaptable. My job has made a little baobab out of me.

Levitate! It’s fitting that this post marking my 10 years in journalism was taken by the Baobab tree- native to Africa and famously adaptable. My job has made a little baobab out of me. The work brings me joy. Nourishes me. Gives me access. Challenges me. I absolutely love it. It’s a job I got through public voting, and so I naturally feel accountable to my viewers- particularly Kenyan ones. For the opportunity I thank you. Everyday I work hard to build on ‘The Presenter’. I know how important journalism is and I don’t take the global position I now have at DW for granted. To those who have opened their homes and businesses, shared their best and worst experiences, expressed their anger and showed their pain publicly, thank you for trusting me to report your truth. To the @officialjanetmbugua‘s who came before me, who faced the wilderness and charted new paths - thank you. To the @larrymadowo’s who challenge us to be more, do more, know better - thank you. To those threatening free and open media, there’s a million more me’s being forged. Braver than me. Smarter than me and a lot less patient than me! If that was chapter one, better buckle up ☄️☄️ 📷: @mwihaki_kimani
